Free Prescription Drug Card Launched in Cape May County - Tuesday, July 13, 2010

July 13, 2010; the Cape May County Department of Health is launching a free prescription drug card for County residents.  Any resident of Cape May County can use the Cape May County Rx Card and save up to 75% on prescription medications.  The Rx card is available to all Cape May County residents, regardless of income, age, or insurance status.  The Rx card is available at the Department of Health, located at 6 Moore Road in Cape May Court House and at area libraries.  County residents can also download a free card, search drug pricing and locate participating pharmacies at www.cmchealth.net

 
Council Passes Ordinance to Foster a Friendlier Tourist Atmosphere - Tuesday, July 13, 2010

More than a Dozen New Businesses have Opened for the 2010 Summer Season - Monday, July 05, 2010

July 5, 2010; more than a dozen new businesses have opened for the summer of 2010.  The new buildings and businesses are the result of an effort started several years ago to revitalize the City's business district by requiring commercial development on the first floor with expanded residential units above.  The growth of new businesses is expected to continue as several property owners have already started the process of replacing existing buildings with modern, more accessible buildings, featuring retail enterprises on the first floor and residential units on the floors above.   

 
Sea Isle City Summer Trolley - Friday, July 02, 2010

July 2, 2010;  The Sea Isle City summer trolley will run from 4:00PM - 11:00PM commencing July 2, 2010 through September 6, 2010.  The route of travel is on Landis Avenue from 29th Street to 94th Street and JFK Blvd from the Beach to the Bay.  To determine when the trolley will be near your location, contact the driver by calling 609 846-4897. The cost is $1.00 per passenger. 

 
Jim Terruso Retires after 31 Years of Service - Thursday, July 01, 2010

July 1, 2010; Jim Terruso, Chief Financial Officer retired after 31 years of service.  Jim was hired on July 1, 1979 as purchasing agent for the City and was later promoted to the position of CFO in 1991.  His retirement was honored on June 16th at Marie's Seafood restaurant with 98 friends, colleagues and family members in attendance. 

 
Professional Service Contract for Engineering Services Awarded to BCM Engineers - Tuesday, June 29, 2010

June 29, 2010; Resolution NO. 165 (2010) authorized the award of a fair and open contract for professional services for engineering/architectural design services for the Central Avenue Sanitary Sewer Collection System Project from 49th Street to 60th Street to James S. Griesemer of BCM Engineers in the amount of $65,020.00.

 
City's New Chief Financial Officer, Paula Doll - Tuesday, June 29, 2010

June 29, 2010; City Council passed Resolution NO. 159 (2010), confirming the Mayor's nomination of Paula G. Doll, CMFO as Director of the Department of Revenue and Finance commencing July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.  Additionally, the resolution contained the appointment of Paula as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Sea Isle City for a four year term commencing July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2014.

 
Resolutions Adopted at City Council Meeting - Tuesday, June 29, 2010

June 29, 2010; the following resolutions were adopted by City Council:  Resolution NO. 154 appointing Joseph Berrodin, Jr as the Tax Assessor for the City for a four year term commencing July 1, 2010; Resolution NO. 166 appointing Councilman Frank Edwardi, Jr. to the Planning Board for a one year term commencing July 1, 2010; Resolution NO. 167 appointing Councilman John Divney to serve on the Tourism Commission for a one year term commencing July 1, 2010. 

 
City Council Supports the Mayor's Recommendation to Rename City Streets - Tuesday, June 29, 2010

June 29, 2010; Resolution NO. 160 (2010) was adopted by City Council at the regular meeting held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 supporting the Mayor's recommendation to rename the east side of the JFK Blvd Horseshoe to "Braca Plaza" and 42nd Street between Landis Avenue and Pleasure Avenue to "Charlotte M. Sofroney Way".

 
Professional Service Resolutions Passed at City Council Meeting - Tuesday, June 29, 2010

June 29, 2010; City Council adopted Res. NO. 163 authorizing the extension of a non-fair and open contract for professional services for auditing and accounting to Leon P. Costello, CPA, RMA, of Ford, Scott and Associates for the year 2010/2011.  Additionally, City Council adopted Res. NO 164 authorizing the extension of a non-fair and open contract for professional services for City Solicitor to Paul Baldini, PA, for the year 2010/2011. 

 
Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Company Enroll Members in the State Firemen's Association - Tuesday, June 15, 2010

June 15, 2010; Resolution NO. 150 (2010) approved by City Council, authorizes the Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Company to enroll the following members in the States Firemen's Association:  Joe LaRosa, Michael D'Eramo and Keith Pryce. 

 
South End Beach Fill Project Completed - Sunday, June 13, 2010

June 13, 2010; Great Lakes Dredging Company completed beach fill operations.  Beaches from 73rd Street - 94th Street received 800,000 cubic yards of sand and now are open to the public.  The total project cost 6.6 million dollars, with the State of New Jersey committing to pay 75% and the City of Sea Isle City responsible for paying the remaining 25% of the total cost.  Expect to see equipment clean up and de-mobilization over the next few days.

 
Terry Barry Selected as AARP Chapter 710 "Volunteer of the Year" - Thursday, June 10, 2010

June 10, 2010; at the AARP Spring Luncheon, Terry Barry was selected and honored as the Chapter 710 "Volunteer of the Year".  Terry has been an active member of the chapter and a willing volunteer for 19 years. 

 
Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner - Friday, June 04, 2010

June 4, 2010; the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce officer installation dinner was held at Busch's Seafood Restaurant, with 62 people in attendance.  Mayor Len Desiderio swore in the new officers:  Chris Glancey - President, Dan Otto - Vice President, Liz Pane - Treasurer. 

 
CMC Library, Sea Isle City Branch Groundbreaking - Tuesday, June 01, 2010

June 1, 2010; groundbreaking for the CMC Library, Sea Isle City Branch was held in Sea Isle City at 48th and Central Avenue on Tuesday June 1, 2010 at 2:00pm.  Construction is expected to start mid-June with an anticipated completion date of June 10, 2011.  The new two story facility is 13,583 square feet with two exterior decks totaling 1,380 square feet.  

 
CMC Library, Sea Isle City Branch - Tuesday, May 25, 2010

May 25, 2010; the County of Cape May County awarded the contract to construct the CMC Library, Sea Isle City Branch to Martell Construction Company, Inc., from Penns Grove, NJ, in the amount of $5,518,000.00. 

 
City Council Adopts 2010 Local Municipal Budget - Monday, May 17, 2010

May 17, 2010; City Council passed Resolution NO. 129 (2010) adopting as amended the 2010 Local Municipal Budget. 

 
State to Subsidize Beach Fill Project - Tuesday, May 11, 2010

May 11, 2010; Mayor Desiderio announced the State has committed to paying 75% of up to 6.6 million dollars for beach fill, which includes the original base bid amount of 5.9 million dollars for 700,000 cubic yards of sand plus another $700,000.00 for an additional 100,000 cubic yards of sand.

 
2010 Summer Guarded Beaches - Tuesday, February 23, 2010

February 23, 2010; Resolution NO. 034 (2010) was passed by City Council, establishing beaches with lifeguards in attendance for the 2010 summer season.  Included in this resolution are beaches designated for surfing, volleyball, rafting, catamaran and sailboat launching and kayaking.  This information is available on our website under Government/Beach Patrol.
